The good thing about crisis is how it transforms ordinary, giving us the opportunity for something extraordinary and new. Would you agree with me that life as we know it will never fully return to what it was a couple months ago? Didn’t most of us have predictable, ordinary lives with weekly structures to manage tasks & expectations? Would you agree we were more comfortable than we realized with our jobs, our families, even our Kingdom work? COVID-19 has exposed the weaknesses in how we were living. The softness and comfort in our lives. It has forced us to rethink how we do things. As hard as it is, once it’s over, do you secretly hope we never go back to the way we were before? I want it to be over, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t want to waste its impact on our lives spiritually. In today’s passage that’s exactly what has happened to Jesus’s disciples after 2 years of doing things one way.
