COVID-19 is changing things for us. The life we were comfortable with is getting disrupted, even destroyed. This can cause the human heart to turn to fear, hopelessness, crisis of faith… even feelings of desperation. Yet desperation, as scary and painful as it is, can drive us back to reliance on Heavenly Dad. Our desperation offers an opportunity to restore an intimate connection with Heavenly Dad, and something neglected when hope is displaced. Now, humanly speaking, when we come to Dad in desperation, we desire restoration of the life we had before. But what if Heavenly Dad has other plans? What if His intervention ends up changing the course of life forever? What if Dad knows to truly heal our pain, He needs to take our life in a completely new direction? When I was experiencing life and writing this sermon this week, that is what I saw in this week’s passage in Mark.
