Mark 3:13-19 is the story of selecting of the remaining 12 apostles and then what seems to be a totally unrelated passage, Mark moves to another confrontation with the religious that ends with this thing called the “Unpardonable Sin.” When you hear about this passage, what is your initial reaction? Do you see it as a somber, dark warning? Do your ears really perk up, so you can have good information to engage in the ultimate personal evaluation? “Have I committed the Unpardonable Sin? I sure hope not. Pastor Joe please explain this to me so that I can cast off this anxiety!” Then he throws in the Unpardonable Sin? Jesus don’t we have enough to worry about? What a frightening passage right? NO!!! Is it possible that the Unpardonable Sin was never meant to be a frightening concept? Didn’t Jesus say His burden was light?
