1 Peter 1:18–21
No.5- The Eternal Lamb

When you experience true heartbreak, suffering… any type of adversity, it’s hard to think about anything else. Nothing puts the human heart in the prison of now like suffering & loss, especially without a hope fixed on eternity. Suffering devours your attention, dominates your emotions, crowds your thoughts, siphons off earthly resources. Sometimes it seems like a monumental burden, just take the next breath, make it through the day. In the fire, you’re just doing your best to survive, and help those you love to survive with you. It's in these moments, something captivating enough to comfort us, divert us, transcend the moment and place. Like how a great song makes you reflect on the past, remind you of a happier moment, or inspire hope in the future. Our next 2 sermons, Peter teaches some beautiful, captivating theology to suffering believers for just this purpose! We will learn the theology necessary to thrive amid suffering, to exist outside of the prison of now.
