No.3- Heaven's Favorite Story

This week, one of my heroes, Coach Bowden died. He had a huge impact on me as a young football coach & preacher. I’ve loved FSU football since I was a kid, ESPN replayed condensed classic games in his honor. I was watched 5 of them. I remembered most of the plays! I already knew the score, but I loved watching again, reliving all the details, the drama. I loved remembering where I was when they were played, who I was with, how I felt, it was nostalgic & emotional. It took me back, trips to Tallahassee for coaching clinics, games, the speeches where he taught about faith & football... I remembered how God used Coach to turn coaching football into a training ground for pastoral ministry. Some of you may think this is silly, but I am not sure I would be in ministry today if not for his impact on my life. Some of you think, wow what a waste of time, but you have movies, stories, shows you’ve watched more than once? Not because you forgot the ending, but because you want to remember the brilliance in the details of the drama. We revisit these kinds of stories because we want to remember how we felt that first time, relive the moment. By Tues, i realized the greatest story is our great salvation. Why don’t we rewind that one more often?
