Mark 12:28–34
No.58- The Gospel Of Moses

Some passages in Scripture feel intimidating, and today’s text is one of them. Jesus declares the two greatest commandments: love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. Beautiful—but also overwhelming. Who can honestly say they do that consistently, let alone completely? It feels impossible, and the gap between who we are and who we long to be can feel discouraging. But Jesus doesn’t leave us without help. The key to closing that gap—growing in love for God and others—is found in what I call “the Gospel of Moses.” Jesus shows us that the law was never meant to crush us, but to lead us to the One who fulfills it in us. The commandments expose our need, but they also point us to the grace that empowers real transformation. In today’s passage, we learn what it means to embrace the greatest commandment—and why Jesus says that when we understand this, we are “close to the Kingdom of God.” Not because we’ve mastered love, but because we’ve finally recognized the One who makes that kind of love possible.
