This past Wednesday’s sermon preview read:
“In this self-centered, self-promoting world, we must be a church who proclaims and promotes Christ first.”

During the sermon, Pastor Keith asked the question, “Who is Jesus?” prompting us to answer for ourselves. I said “Dad” out loud.
As Pastor Keith preached and listed examples of how some people might describe Jesus, I chuckled. Many of them sounded like descriptions people might use in desperation or to their own advantage. I’ve said a few of those things on his list myself.
When John the Baptist was spreading the news and works of the Messiah, bringing people to Him, and explaining who He is, the first thing John said was, “I am not Christ.” I’m sure there is just as much doubt today as there was back then. Maybe more back then, since many had never heard of Jesus Christ.
I learned today that how I answer this question, both to those who may ask and to myself, is really important. As a disciple, my mission as a Christian is to bring people to Christ biblically and accurately, being a witness to what He has done in my life: my redemption and salvation, and the unlimited grace and mercy I am blessed with.
For myself, it’s important to eliminate expectations. One of my favorite Bible verses is Matthew 21:22, where Jesus tells His disciples, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” It emphasizes the power of prayer and faith, with many interpretations noting that prayer should align with God’s will. GOD'S WILL.
I really loved singing the song, redeemed today. All the lyrics are applicable in my life.
Recently, I’ve had a few people tell me they love my Monday Morning Reflections, my poetry, and Lori’s Lyft and Lessons, where I used to write about my Uber and Lyft rides home from work. My rides home everyday can be really interesting.
I mention the song and my writing because what I write about today is very different from what I used to write about. It isn’t dark anymore since I gave my life to Christ.
I am a witness to Jesus’ grace, forgiveness, love, and mercy.
I am redeemed.
Thank God, redeemed
