“Biblical courage isn’t about winning debates—it's about proclaiming the only truth that can save souls.”
— Pastor Joe

Last Sunday at GraceLife, whether you were sitting in the sanctuary or tuning in from home, you probably heard something personal. That’s the beauty of God’s voice—it meets each of us exactly where we are.

For me, it landed right in the middle of my health journey.

As Pastor Joe began preaching, my thoughts turned to epilepsy, to the weight of chronic illness, and to the quiet battles so many of us carry. It was clear: God was speaking courage into my heart.

Courage in Community

After the service, I hugged friends who are walking through their own valleys—cancer, mental illness, brain tumors, substance abuse, depression, anxiety. The list is long, and the burden is heavy. But one thing we all need? Courage.

Not the kind that comes from motivational quotes or temporary strength. I’m talking about Gospel courage. The kind that’s rooted in Truth.

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” — John 8:32

Sharing Courage Online and Off

I’m part of several epilepsy support groups on Facebook. Most of the posts are filled with fear, uncertainty, and pain. But I’ve realized something powerful: I can be a voice of courage in those spaces. I can share the Truth. I can shepherd others through their storms—not because I’m fearless, but because I know where my strength comes from.

Releasing the Weight

Fear used to dictate my behavior. It told me what I could and couldn’t do. But not anymore.

I’m giving my fears and anxieties to God. They’re too heavy for me to carry. Instead, I’m choosing to stand tall—chest out, smile on my face, heart full of faith. I’m choosing hope. I’m choosing courage. And I’m choosing to pass it on.

God is my doctor. God is the surgeon. So why should I fear?

Maybe this season of struggle has a divine purpose. Maybe it’s not just about healing—it’s about becoming a vessel of courage for others.

Called to Courageous Living

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” — Matthew 28:19–20

I will walk courageously in every part of my life:

  • With epilepsy
  • In my recovery
  • In my marriage
  • In my finances
  • With my family and friends
  • At work

A Prayer for Courage

Jesus, guide me in Your truth. Help me be courageous—not just for myself, but for those who are afraid. Let my life be a testimony of Your strength. Amen.
