Can you truly say that you are surviving in Egypt? Is there any outward evidence of life saving transformation? The truth is, we’ve become experts at looking like we’re surviving in Egypt. And we do it economically, comfortably, and in style. We’ve built our own little transformation ecosystem—our music stations, our books, our bumper stickers, our inspirational memes on social media. It’s like we’ve constructed an arch of church culture to convince ourselves we’re doing just fine. But you don’t believe those things prove you’re following Jesus, do you? That they prove you’re surviving Egypt? Real survival in Egypt requires stepping out of the cocoon—out of the safe, curated Christian bubble—and into the dangers of Egypt for the sake of others. The true evidence of transformation is not how well we insulate ourselves, but how boldly we advocate for others who are trying to survive in Egypt, even when it costs us something. At the end of this message, I’m going to show you a verse you’ve probably heard before but may never have fully understood until today. This message takes us deeper into the story of Judah—his stunning transformation, and how he became the greatest advocate a brother could ever hope for. His life shows us what real, costly, outward transformation looks like… and what it means to truly survive in Egypt.
